About Us
Knitworks was started by Frits van Tulder and his wife Sandy in 1993.
Frits first started in the Knitwear industry working as a youth for his father, who owned his own knitwear manufacturing company during the 1960’s. Frits pursued advanced textile training and began to develop and adopt the techniques used worldwide. After his father’s retirement, Frits continued to produce top quality knitwear for New Zealand people. With an extensive network of fellow producers in the business, the idea of Knitworks was born.
The combination of manufacturing onsite for corporate wear, and a shop to present an array of products to the public, Knitworks has built a widely reknowned and trusted product base within New Zealand.. We have grown from having an initial commercial knitting machine to building a factory on site which houses twelve machines.
Best value and high quality Merino, Possum, Angora and Alpaca garments are available from our shop as well as socks, hats, gloves, wraps and slippers.
Knitworks now also stock a wide range of New Zealand made tourist giftware ranging from sheep skin rugs and leather products to natural NZ made beauty products with Kiwifruit and Manuka honey extracts.
We pride ourselves on having very friendly, helpful staff and the most realistic prices in New Zealand.
Our country site has an abundance of parking, alpacas and sheep to feed, knitting machinery open to public viewing, and clean rest rooms.
Sandy, Frits and the Knitworks team look forward to your visit.
